Jacqueline McCumiskey, 42, has created SPORT – ART, which she is launching through this black and white charcoal drawing of the World Motorcycle Trials Champion, Toni Bou. Having drawn in charcoal simply for pleasure over her lifetime this new and exciting venture has evolved with her enthusiasm, passion for understanding, and observation of people through her work in the caring sector. Jacqueline has worked in the complementary therapy field as a holistic practitioner for the past twenty years, specialising with adults and children alike with intellectual disabilities. The nature of this work leads to expression of emotion in various ways, so it is with art Jacqueline plans to give us another way of viewing the sportsmen and women of today. “My connection with sport began as a ‘sports therapist’ back in 1998. I have always been fascinated as to how people control their emotions during a competition, so it is with my drawings I intend trying to capture each individual’s thoughts at that moment. I guess the ‘sport’ and ‘art’ connection was inevitable, as my partner David Rodgers is deeply involved in organising motorcycle trials, so this seemed a naturally starting point. I look forward to moving into different sporting fields, capturing not only our sporting heroes but also the sportsmen and women who simply play sport for pleasure.” commented Jacqueline. |
